Bruno (Asa Butterfield) is the eight-year-old son of a Nazi commander (David Thewlis) at a concentration camp. He discovers and befriends a Jewish boy named Leon (Zac Mattoon O'Brien) who lives behind the camp fence; he believes Leon's prisoners uniform is a pair of striped pajamas and that this boy and his family live in a playful and wonderful land. By realizing Leon's horrible predicament, Bruno learns about his father's occupation, and what kind of man he might be.
