A clean, straight-laced homicide detective (Edward Norton) is asked by the chief of detectives (Jon Voight) to look into a precinct run by his dishonest brother (Noah Emmerich). As Mr. Norton delves deeper in to the precinct the more levels of complexity to start to reveal themselves. A policeman in the precinct (Colin Farrell) may be the one behind the acts of wrongdoing which sets off a chain of events for all involved. A story of what makes a family bond and what people will do to keep those bonds is at the heart of the film. Also, the battle between family loyalty and the loyalty to your job is also examined.
